Remembering Dori Maynard
By Isaac Butler
We here at Perception are very saddened by the news that our community lost the great Dori Maynard this week. Dori, the daughter of the first African American to own a major newspaper, dedicated her life to diversifying the news media to make it more inclusive. She believed that by changing who tells the story, we can make the story more fair.
Dori Maynard also took part in our Black Male Reimagined II conference, where she gave a powerful, humane, and funny talk on how the uneasy relationship between the news media and Black men.
